Distinguido recentemente com o Prémio Vaga D’Ouro para a área cultural, o Festival Vagos Open Air vai levar o melhor da música pesada à Lagoa de Calvão, em Vagos, nos dias 3 e 4 de Agosto. Numa IV Edição que se prevê memorável, CORONER e DISAFFECTED são as derradeiras confirmações em mais um cartaz de exceção, que conta também com a participação de nomes tão distintos e influentes no cenário do metal como osAt The Gates, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Arcturus e Enslaved, entre outros. São dois nomes lendários, regressados recentemente ao ativo, que marcaram para sempre uma época e os movimentos em que surgiram. Cada um à sua maneira, separados por uma geração e por muitos quilómetros, ambos quebraram com as regras instituídas no espectro da música extrema, desafiando os ouvintes do género e as suas próprias capacidades como músicos. Uma atitude arrojada e muitas vezes incompreendida, que lhes permitiu estabelecerem-se ao longo dos anos como alvo de culto por parte de uma enorme minoria. Os suíços CORONER são, sem dúvida, um dos colectivos mais injustamente ignorados da sua geração e de todo o movimento thrash metal europeu dos anos 80. Maioritariamente conhecido e venerado entre a legião de fanáticos das franjas mais experimentais da música extrema, o trio formado pelo guitarrista Tommy Vetterli, pelo baterista Marky Edelmann e pelo baixista/vocalista Ron Broder revelou desde cedo uma personalidade muito própria e a sua música acabou por ir muito para além do género a que são habitualmente associados. Lançando cinco álbuns e duas compilações no período compreendido entre 1987 e 1996 – do speed/thrash técnico ainda em estado embrionário de «R.I.P.» à complexidade de «Punishment for Decadence», passando pelo assombro de técnica que caracterizou «No More Color» ou «Mental Vortex» e culminando na atitude mais descontraída de «Grin» – os Coroner estiveram permanentemente em mutação até se separarem já a meio da década de 90. Sinónimo de técnica irrepreensível, criatividade, força bruta e de uma tendência inata para a inovação, decidiram voltar à vida depois de um hiato de 16 anos e foram recebidos por plateias rendidas à sua abordagem cerebral ao peso em festivais de renome como o Maryland Deathfest, o Bloodstock Open Air e o Hellfest. O Verão de 2012 ficará marcado pela estreia em solo nacional, no Vagos Open Air. Os DISAFFECTED são, por seu lado, uma das faces mais conhecidas e respeitadas do metal técnico em solo nacional. Com raízes no boom underground da década de 90, o colectivo lisboeta foi pioneiro na abordagem complexa e progressiva à música pesada e, apesar de ter estado parado durante quase 10 anos, conseguiu manter-se como a referência a ter em conta neste espectro, ao lado dos Thormenthor. Uma espécie de super-projecto da fervilhante cena da linha de Sintra dos anos 90 – a banda contou e conta com elementos e ex-elementos dos Sacred Sin, Decayed e Exiled na sua formação – gravaram apenas um álbum durante a primeira fase da sua carreira, mas a verdade é que nunca mais ninguém se esqueceu deles. Em 2012, o quinteto formado por José Costa, Sérgio Paulo, António Gião, Octávio Custódio e Rodrigo Domingues está finalmente de regresso com um segundo álbum, 17 anos após a edição de «Vast», que se mantém como um clássico incontornável do underground português dos anos 90. «Rebirth» chega aos escaparates com selo de aprovação da independente germânica Massacre e foi gravado nos estúdios The Pentagon, com a banda a dividir os créditos de produção com Fernando Matias. Formed in Paramus, New Jersey during 1983, TRIXTER would learn their chops playing live in the club circuit around their hometown with the likes of SKID ROW and KIX, before eventually getting signed by Mechanic/MCA for their self-titled debut album in 1990, which spawned the Billboard Hits & # 1 MTV Videos « Give It To Me Good », « One in a Million » and « Surrender » and went on to become gold.

The band toured nationally during 1990-91 sold out arena tours with POISON, SCORPIONS and WARRANT. TRIXTER's second album, « Hear! », was released in October 1992, touring in support of KISS. Unfortunately the change of musical climate made it impossible for the band to keep going so, after the release of an independent covers album, the band called it quits in 1995.

TRIXTER announced the reunion of the original lineup in 2007. Since then the band played several shows, including a successful appearance at the Rocklahoma festival in 2008. TRIXTER has been playing together for the last 4 years, so making a new record was the next logical step. The task was to create a classic style Melodic Hard Rock album with all the sounds people have loved about TRIXTER : great songs, big guitar riffs, catchy vocals and a huge bottom end.  Some special guests collaborated with the band members in the songwriting department : Glen Burtnik (STYX) and Snake Sabo and Rachel Bolan (SKID ROW).

TRIXTER lineup features Pete Loran on lead vocals and guitar, Steve Brown on lead guitar, P.J. Farley on bass and Gus Scott on drums. « We take pride in the fact that we are one of the few bands of our genre that have all original members, » says Brown.

With an arsenal of great new songs and a catalogue of two successful releases TRIXTER are looking forward to bring their songs on stage . Get ready for the return of TRIXTER !

Getting together to write your first album in over eighteen years is no easy feat, especially when the band members are spread out all over the globe. But after many successful years of touring on the heels of their classic albums DON'T COME EASY and STRENGTH IN NUMBERS, Tyketto felt it was time to introduce the fans to new music.

With recent appearances at Sweden Rock, Download, Firefest, Hard Rock Hell and Hard in Rio, the band realized they still had a huge fan base worldwide and the timing was perfect for a new album.

All the original band members agreed to make a new record, but on some conditions.
*The music had to be written by the core writing team of Danny Vaughn, Brooke St. James, and Michael Arbeeny (Clayton).
*The music should have stayed true to the Tyketto roots, but at the same time the album should have reflected where the band members lives were today.
*It should rock!

Sessions for DIG IN DEEP began in 2009 ago with the exchanging of demo ideas and a few preproduction visits to Brooke's Las Vegashome. With Brooke in Vegas (and now in Wisconsin), Danny in Gibraltar(and now Spain) and Michael in New Jersey(and still in New Jersey!), the band certainly had their work cut out for them.

Michael recalls receiving the initial song demos from Danny: "As I listened to the first set of songs, I immediately drew parallels to our debut album, DON'T COME EASY. Although the words were different, many of the sentiments were the same. The themes of classic Tyketto songs such as WALK ON FIRE, WINGS and SAIL AWAY were simple: don't let anything stand in the way of what you want in life. Those sentiments are echoed in songs like THE FIGHT LEFT IN ME and DIG IN DEEP. As the months passed and the ideas became songs, we knew we were onto something very special. In typical Tyketto fashion, we collected a wide array of material. Rockers like SOUND OFF and FAITHLESS will make those "FOREVER YOUNG" fans happy, while we show our more melodic side with BATTLE LINES, MONDAY and the epic ballad THIS IS HOW WE SAY GOODBYE. LOVE TO LOVE shows off our acoustic laced rock side ala SEASONS. We feel there is something here for everyone. It is hard to meet that balance of giving fans what they want without repeating yourself. We feel DIG IN DEEP has met that balance perfectly."

The making of the album was fraught with scheduling issues, weather delays, internal differences of opinion and a myriad of other problems associated with making an record. In the end, the band’s vision was met, so now DIG IN DEEP is the perfect third chapter in the Danny Vaughn era of Tyketto.

The band debuted some of the new material at British and American shows in December 2011 to rave reviews. With a 2012 slot scheduled for Firefest and a full scale tour in the works, Tyketto keeps on doing what they do best: writing great songs and performing live for their fans.

Crazy Lixx is a Swedish hard rock band formed in 2002 inMalmö, Sweden and were among the first bands to emerge in what has been known as "The New Wave of Swedish Sleaze" along with Crashdïet, Hardcore Superstar, Babylon Bombs and Vains of Jenna but just like their fellow genre-mates, Crazy Lixx have now created their own style and are considered to be more of an 80's influenced Hard Rock band.

Crazy Lixx debuted with “Loud Minority” in November 2007, an album that notwithstanding the independent release, received a great acclaim from the media and fans, reaching position #2 in the national Swedish Hard Rock chart. The follow up album "New Religion" was equally, if not more successful thanks to the worldwide release on Frontiers Records.

Crazy Lixx are now back with a rocking new album which sums up all the influences from KISS, Guns'n'Roses, Buckcherry and Motley Crue.

Biografia

"Banda de metal clássico procura guitarrista solo" e "Banda à procura de solista de guitarra", foram as linhas que reuniram Jorge Canela, Fernando Santos e Hugo Torrado (guitarra, baixo e vocal, respectivamente), o núcleo interno dos Kameleon. Jorge, à procura de um novo projecto, rapidamente percebeu que tanto Hugo e Fernando tinham um enorme potencial, não explorado pelas suas actuais bandas e apresentou-lhes a idéia de criar algo a partir do zero. Ambos ficaram entusiasmados com a idéia, e decidiram experimentá-lo. O resultado não poderia ter sido melhor: a química de composição foi imediatamente visível, com "Am I" (faixa n º 7 do homónimo álbum de estréia), a ser concluída em duas horas, com uma gravação demo terminada dentro de uma semana. Harmonia, melodia e ritmo foram sendo trocados com facilidade, assim como os diversos pontos de vista. Mesmo as questões estilísticas e técnicas pareciam encontrar uma confluência natural. Com tudo a progredir muito rápido, levantou-se a questão de encontrar um baterista com a capacidade de lidar com esse ritmo. Boa capacidade técnica, forte performance ao vivo, o conhecimento de teoria musical, a experiência de estúdio e da capacidade de aprender depressa eram difíceis de encontrar, e o processo de audição provou exactamente isso. Audições extensas, com 17 percussionistas a serem ouvidos por um período de 6 meses, durante o qual o álbum foi composto e gravado, e Ricardo Reis (bateria) foi adicionado ao line-up da banda.

Ricardo é um baterista de sessão monstruoso, cuja habilidade técnica e criatividade na bateria vai espantar todos. Tocar uma batida paradiddle Latina em cima de uma secção half-time de metal puro, e fazê-la soar bem, não é nada fácil. Hugo é dono de uma bela voz, melódica e clara. Traz à banda influências de pop/rock clássico dando assim aos Kameleon uma diversidade pouco comum. Fernando é um músico de turnê realizado, tendo passado 14 anos na estrada com projectos diferentes e músicos, tocando vários instrumentos, uma prova de sua formação musical bem arredondada. Jorge é compositor, engenheiro e multi-instrumentista com influências de Prog Metal pesado e Neo-clássico que se ocupa  de diversos cargos na banda (compositor, arranjador, editor de gravação, pré-mixer, produtor). Um autêntico homem dos setes ofícios!

A música e letra dos Kameleon torna-se fácil de se relacionar com quase todos os que ouvem música rock, sendo simples e complexa ao mesmo tempo. A acessibilidade das estruturas do Pop / Rock da música, construção harmónica e melódica, juntos com virtuosismo, performances instrumentais impecáveis e o uso imprevisível de ligeiras mudanças na estrutura tornam difícil parar de ouvir. Kameleon também é variado. Classic, Thrash, Nu, Prog, Neo-clássico: todo o Rock e Metal aparecem em doses equilibradas, para evitar que o ouvinte se sinta aborrecido. Você pode encontrar Maiden, Metallica, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Nickelback, Whitesnake, Dream Theater, Symphony X e Hoobastank, todos juntos pelas letras introspectivas e socialmente críticas de Hugo.

KAMELEON

Biography

"Classic Metal band looking for lead guitar player" and "Band looking for guitar soloist" were the lines that brought together Jorge Canela, Fernando Santos and Hugo Torrado (guitar, bass and vocal respectively), the inner core of Kameleon. Jorge, looking for a new project, quickly realized that both Alvaro and Fernando had a huge potential, untapped by their current bands and presented to them the idea of creating something from the ground up. Both were enthusiastic about the idea, and agreed to try it out. The outcome couldn't have been better: the songwriting chemistry was immediately visible, with "Am I" (track #7 of their self-produced, self-titled debut album) being completed in a couple of hours, with a demo recording finished within the week. Harmonic, melodic, rhythmic ideas were bouncing back and forth with ease and even stylistic and technical viewpoints seemed to find a prompt confluence. With things going terribly fast, this left them with the issue of finding a drummer that could cope with this pace. Good technical ability, strong live performance, music theory knowledge, studio experience and the ability to learn stuff fast were difficult to come accross, and the audition process proved just that. Extensive auditions, with 17 drummers being heard over a period of 6 months were set-up, during which the album was composed and recorded, and Ricardo Reis (drums) were added to the band's lineup.

Ricardo is a monster session drummer, whose technical ability and creative drumming will blow minds away. Getting away with a Latin paradiddle beat on top of a half-time, pure metal section, and having it sound right, isn't easy! Hugo is the bearer of a beautiful voice, melodic and clear. He brings classic pop/rock influences to the table, giving Kameleon an unusual diversity. Fernando is an accomplished touring musician, having spent 14 years on the road with different projects and musicians, playing several instruments, a proof of his well rounded musical training. Jorge is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer with heavy Prog Metal and Neo-classical influences that takes up loads of band jobs (composer, arranger, recording, editor, pre-mixer, producer). A musical workhorse!

Kameleon's music and lyrics make it easy to relate to just about everybody who listens to rock music, being simple and complex simultaneously. The accessibility of pop/rock song structures, harmonic and melodic construction, tied together with virtuosity, top-notch instrumental performances and the unpredictable use of slight structure changes make it difficult to stop listening to. Kameleon is also varied. Classic, Thrash, Nu, Prog, Neo-classical: all things Rock and Metal appear in balanced doses, to prevent the listener from being bored. You can find Maiden, Metallica, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Nickelback, Whitesnake, Dream Theater, Symphony X and Hoobastank in there, all tied together by Alvaro's both introspective and critical lyrics.

This first album is but a sample of the great things this band can do. 9 tracks running just over 47 minutes. Doesn't seem much, does it? But what if we told you they have another 20 tracks (written and recorded) in store for release this year? We're guessing you'll just have to wait and see...

Depois da excelente participação dos SEVEN STITCHES e dos PRAYERS OF SANITY no Wacken Open Air, as expectativas estão em alta para com a banda que se sagrar vencedora na final da W:O:A Metal Battle Portugal 2012. Este é também o primeiro ano de colaboração entre o Wacken Open Air e a NUCLEAR BLAST pelo que à banda vencedora será oferecido um contrato discográfico com aquela que é considerada a maior editora de Heavy Metal do Mundo.

Mais uma vez, a SWR inc., em cooperação com a ICS, conceituada promotora do Wacken Open Air, um dos maiores festivais de heavy metal do planeta, proporciona a uma banda portuguesa a presença no cartaz deste mítico festival, cuja lotação habitualmente esgotada já ascende aos 100.000 espectadores.

A Metal Battle Portugal baseia-se na realização de uma série de classificativas regionais que procuram abranger da melhor forma todo o território nacional, abrindo as portas à participação de jovens colectivos oriundos dos mais diversos cantos do país. Ao longo do mês de Janeiro, foram apuradas as quatro presenças na final nacional. Cabe ao vencedor da final nacional, a ter lugar no dia 26 de Abril de 2012 no âmbito do SWR barroselas metalfest XV, representar Portugal no palco W.E.T. do Wacken Open Air 2012.

O encerramento da Metal Battle Portugal em Barroselas é um incentivo adicional dirigido a todos os potenciais concorrentes. A possibilidade de actuarem neste reconhecido berço do underground nacional, habilitando-se a um concerto na Alemanha, afigura-se um desafio bastante apetecível. A possível vitória do representante Português na final internacional da competição conduz ainda à obtenção de diversos prémios tais como contratos discográficos, patrocínios ou instrumentos musicais.

Os Royal Hunt vêm a Portugal para um concerto único no Hard Club na cidade do Porto.
A banda que está sediada na Dinamarca e foi fundada há mais de 20 anos pelo virtuoso teclista de formação clássica, Andre Andersen, e que já vendeu mais de um milhão de cópias de todos os seus discos no mundo inteiro, é conhecida por criar um tipo de música que mistura, de uma forma singular, rock melódico, heavy metal, rock progressivo e rock sinfónico.

Os Royal Hunt atingiram a sua maior notoriedade em meados dos anos 90 quando tiveram o norte americano D.C. Lisboa vai receber os míticos Dr. Feelgood no próximo dia 24 de Abril no Santiago Alquimista.

Formados em Canvey Island, Essex, Reino Unido, na década de 70 os Dr. Feelgood são uma das maiores e vibrantes bandas de rythm & blues do Mundo. Os seus concertos são electrizantes, carregados de energia, fruto de um estilo cru e intransigente mas descomprometido. Este estilo garantiu-lhes o primeiro lugar nos tops britânicos com o álbum "Stupidity".

O sucesso dos Dr. Feelgood está sedimentado em "hits" como "Roxette", "Back in the Night", "Milk and Alcohol", "Down at the Doctors", "She Does it Right", "Going Back Home" e "See You Later Alligator", que deu à banda o seu primeiro disco de ouro. O último álbum com Lee Brilleaux – "Down at the Doctors", foi gravado ao vivo no Dr. Feelgood Music Bar em Canvey, apenas dois meses antes da sua morte.

A actual formação da banda é Kevin Morris (bateria), Phil Mitchel (baixo), ambos no grupo há 27 anos; Steve Walwyn (guitarra), no grupo há 20 anos; Robert Cane (voz), no grupo desde 1999. Em 2000 a EMI lançou "Chess Masters", o tributo dos Dr. Feelgood à editora Chess, casa de muitos dos melhores artistas de blues do século XX.
O grupo lançou recentemente, o DVD "Live in London" e o CD "Repeat Prescription", uma colectânea das sua melhores canções com uma nova roupagem. Um filme de Julien Temple sobre os tempos antigos da banda, "Oil City Confidential", estreou no London Film Festival em 22 de outubro de 2009, e recebeu uma aclamação pública respeitável. A convidada de honra foi a mãe de Brilleaux, Joan Collinson, com a viúva Shirley e as filhas Kelly e Nick. Todos os membros sobreviventes da banda original estavam presentes com o empresário Chris Fenwick. O filme tem sua própria página no facebook. HARDLINE’s lineup revolution welcomes you in the “Danger Zone”

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of HARDLINE’s new studio album entitled “Danger Zone” on May 18th in Europe and May 22nd in North America.

Following the release of “Leaving The End Open”, HARDLINE’s mastermind and singer Johnny Gioeli did not realistically feel that another HARDLINE album would have seen the light of day sometime soon. It was again thanks to the insistence of Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino that the concept came about once again “I love surprises and this was certainly one of them”, says Gioeli. “Each time I decide to close the door on Hardline, I get the itch to continue”.

Fate wanted that when Perugino sent Gioeli some song demos written by Alessandro Del Vecchio (an Italian musician and producer know for his work with Edge of Forever and Eden’s Curse but also with Axe, Mitch Malloy, Bobby Kimball and several other top musicians and bands), the singer became excited once again and wanted to give it another go.

“Ale is one talented brotha...” tells Johnny, “he plays, writes, sings, engineers, produces and mixes... He's like the golden goose handed to me. More than all the talent he has, he is an example of a great human in many many ways. I look forward to making more music with Ale. And it doesn't hurt that he's Italian too!” Alessandro Del Vecchio says: “I feel humbled but at the same time excited as never before. I grew up with Double Eclipse, which I bought when I was 13, so it's really a combination of feelings. The whole thing started so naturally that I feel like me and Johnny have been knowing each other for years. Our goal was to match the superb quality of that milestone of a debut and we worked hard to get to it, but we also wanted this record to be a shift and the truthful mirror of this "new" life for Hardline”. And, according to Gioeli “I think all of the Hardline records have a magic about them... this one certainly holds a more commercial pop sound to its heartbeat. I love it.”

So now Hardline have been completed with a European based lineup featuring Francesco Jovino (UDO), Thorsten Koehne (Code Of Perfection, Eden's Curse) and Anna Portalupi (Mitch Malloy).

“I would absolutely LOVE to tour with these guys. I think the fans would be quite surprised when they hear this band....like a good solid kick in the teeth” concludes Gioeli and certainly discussions are ongoing to have finally Hardline play some dates around Europe in support of this exciting new release.

Hardline was formed when brothers Johnny (vocals) and Joey (guitar) Gioeli, originally from the band Brunette, teamed up with Journey/Bad English guitarist Neal Schon. The original plan was for Neal to produce Hardline, but as he was having so much fun that he decided to join the band as soon as he left Bad English.
They immediately added established musicians Todd Jensen (David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper) on bass and Deen Castronovo (also coming from Bad English) on drums to the mix and the result was magnificent. They went on to record their debut album “Double Eclipse” for MCA in 1992 and then went on the tour circuit with such heavy hitters as Van Halen and Mr. Big.

The first single from “Double Eclipse” was the song "Hot Cherie". While never popular in the mainstream, various radio stations worldwide started to play it and Hardline's fanbase started to grow. They released a video to MTV, but did not get much airplay. By that time grunge and alternative had already taken over and Melodic Rock was being pushed aside. Tension among band members, the record company and perhaps certain egos, got in the way of an immediate follow-up album, despite the band having written more than enough material.

While Neal re-started his adventure with Journey in 1995 (again together with Deen Castronovo), Johnny stepped out of the music business eventually to return as Axel Rudi Pell’s singer in 1998 on the album “Oceans Of Time”.

But years later Johnny and his brother Joey were ready to give it another go with Hardline after the call of Frontiers Records, and with an all new line-up they produced the awesome return album “II” in 2002 with Josh Ramos (of The Storm and Two Fires fame) taking Neal Schon’s place on lead guitar.

Hailed by critics and fans alike as a top return, the band returned on stage headlining the GODS Festival in Bradford in June 2002, before Johnny and Josh started to work on new songs which eventually saw the light of day on the “Leaving the End Open” album released on Frontiers in may 2009.
