PLAYER to come back with a new EP and album release on Frontiers

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of PLAYER to the label for the release of a yet untitled new album.

Best remembered for "Baby Come Back," a song which topped the US single charts in 1978, Player original lineup included Peter Beckett (guitarist, lead vocalist), J.C. Crowley (guitarist, vocalist), Ronn Moss (bassist, vocalist) and John Friesen (drummer). After extensively playing the club scene in Southern California, Player began to develop a very distinctive edgy, yet very melodic rock style, and was signed by Robert Stigwood to his legendary RSO Records, home to The BeeGees, Eric Clapton, “Saturday Night Fever”, and “Grease”.

Among several notable accolades, Player was named Billboard's Best New Singles Artist of 1978. Eric Clapton became so impressed with Player that he invited them to be the special guest on his 1978 North American tour. They also performed with Heart, Boz Scaggs, Kenny Loggins and Gino Vannelli to name a few.

Player went on to release four albums during their active touring years until 1982. Moss left in 1981 to pursue an acting career, and has starred for the past 25 years on the daytime soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful”. JC Crowley pursued a career in country Music, while Beckett continued writing for other artists and movie soundtracks. He also did an eight year stint with Little River Band starting in 1990, while releasing an acclaimed solo cd 'Beckett' in 1991.

Beckett got back together with Ronn Moss in 1995, and recorded Player's fifth album, “Lost in Reality” and toured the United States. Since then, Peter has produced, written and played on two solo CDs for Ronn Moss and composed music for “The Bold And The Beautiful”. Player restarted working on new songs and touring together in 2010. The new lineup features again original members Peter Beckett and Ronn Moss together with Rob Math (guitars), Johnny English (keyboards) and Craig Pilo (drums).

“Player has not released a cd for over 10 yrs. It's great to actually be creating in the studio for the band once again, as opposed to our many other projects”, says Peter Beckett. “The new album will feature Player's three part harmony very prominently and include the usual blend of rock and big melodies”.

Ronn Moss adds: “It’s been quite a while since our last record release. Feels great to finally be making new music. I’d say the “stuff of life” has played an integral part of influencing all non-musical activities the last several years. Personal endeavours, other work related ventures, and just being downright lazy, have all played a part in why we haven’t done this sooner than now. But in “now’s” defense, sometimes one has to wait until “now” happens before you can actually be there.”

As a special appetizer to the new release, and in connection with a promotional trip in Italy where Peter and Ronn will appear on several major radio and TV shows in the first week of May, Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the worldwide digital release only of a 3-songs EP entitled “My Addiction” on April 30th.

The EP will also include, along with the title track, “Too Many Reasons” and a new recording of “Baby Come Back” and sets the pace for the new album’s release which is planned for the second half of 2012.

“My Addiction - as well as “Too Many Reasons” - came from co-writing sessions between Beckett and Steve Plunkett. “ I have written tons of songs with "Plunk" over the last 20 years and will continue to do so. We sifted through our joint efforts to see what would fit Player” tells Peter. "Addiction" seemed to be a great choice. This song title was actually stolen from one of our other songs. The other song was actually about addiction. This one is a love song and a lot easier to listen to.

The same holds true for the musicians who joined him in the studio: Born in Sweden, singer Rick Altzi, with his distinguished rock voice, contacted Herman Frank after learning of his search for a front man. Bassist Peter Pichl was already involved in Frank’s solo debut Loyal To None and is one of the most sought after bass players on the scene. Mamalitsidis Cristos has already appeared onstage with Herman Frank as a second guitarist and plays top quality metal guitar. Drummer Michael Wolpers’ keen sense for grooves and precision can be heard clearly and he has belonged to Frank's group of friends for years.

Oxygen are from Sweden that excel in high quality Melodic Rock with an 80’s tinge.

Tony Niva began his musical career 1987 with a metal act called Zanity. They only recorded one demo-tape which was never to be released for the public masses. Tony also appeared on the single Down Town released with Swedish Erotica somewhere around 1988. After the sessions in Gothenburg Tony was a member in several musical acts around on his home ground regions, such as Malibu Band, Tracy Goes Crazy and Axia.

The band NIVA released “No Capitulation” in Japan in 1994. After this first NIVA release there was not much activity in terms of live performances, instead Tony composed own made material during that period.
At that point Tony was moving his musical direction from the metal genre. He made an appearance with the band Lion’s Share and they released the album “Entrance”.

Niva have now changed their musical prowess to more of the AOR and Melodic Rock style of direction, the new band is called Oxygen and the album is “Final Warning”. What this album is all about is highly infectious melodies and great songs. Oxygen have a knack of turning out great tunes, in the manner of Treat and such other great Swedish bands but they seem to have captured that great American / Canadian vibe of the early eighties, and vocally Tony sounds a little like Lou Nadeau of “Wrabit” so you can be sure they stand out from the crowd!

Oxygen are like a breath of fresh air and they put so much passion into their songs, this fantastic album should be a big hit with all those who love Scandinavian Melodic rock but also love how it was originally done in the 80’s on the other side of the Atlantic.

A gifted singer and consummate songwriter Richard Marx has left a powerful mark on the music industry over the past 20 years. With 30 million records sold, 3 Grammy Awards nominations, a Grammy Award for “Song of the Year” and an American Music Award nomination for favourite male singer Marx, who has written fourteen #1 songs and had thirteen US #1 songs on the Billboard charts, has remained a fixture on pop and adult contemporary radio for years.

Hardline was formed when brothers Johnny (vocals) and Joey (guitar) Gioeli, originally from the band Brunette, teamed up with Journey/Bad English guitarist Neal Schon. The original plan was for Neal to produce Hardline, but as he was having so much fun that he decided to join the band as soon as he left Bad English.
They immediately added established musicians Todd Jensen (David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper) on bassand Deen Castronovo (also coming from Bad English) on drums to the mix and the result was magnificent. They went on to record their debut album “Double Eclipse” for MCA in 1992 and then went on the tour circuit with such heavy hitters as Van Halen and Mr. Big.
The first single from “Double Eclipse” was the song "Hot Cherie". While never popular in the mainstream, various radio stations worldwide started to play it and Hardline's fanbase started to grow. They released a video to MTV, but did not get much airplay. By that time grunge and alternative had already taken over and Melodic Rock was being pushed aside. Tension among band members, the record company and perhaps certain egos, got in the way of an immediate follow-up album, despite the band having written more than enough material.
While Neal re-started his adventure with Journey in 1995 (again together with Deen Castronovo), Johnny stepped out of the music business eventually to return as Axel Rudi Pell’s singer in 1998 on the album “Oceans Of Time”.
But years later Johnny and his brother Joey were ready to give it another go with Hardline after the call of Frontiers Records, and with an all new line-up they produced the awesome return album “II” in 2002 with Josh Ramos(of The Storm and Two Fires fame) taking Neal Schon’s place on lead guitar.
Hailed by critics and fans alike as a topreturn, the band returned on stageheadlining the GODS Festival in Bradfordin June 2002, before Johnny and Josh started to work on new songs which eventually saw the light of day on the “Leaving the End Open” album released on Frontiers in may 2009.
While it became apparent after the release of the third album that the band would risk again to go into hibernation, it was thanks to the persistence of the band’s #1 fan, Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino that Gioeli decided to give Hardline another go. That happened when he heard the songs that the Italian songwriter and producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever) started to write for him. Oliver Hartmann first appeared on the international music scene during the late 90s as the front man of the Heavy Rock outfit AT VANCE. During his successful time with the band they recorded 4 albums and Oliver became an internationally well known and highly respected singer. Since then his powerful voice has been heard on rock operas such as AVANTASIA, AINA and GENIUS and on many productions by well known international Rock acts like HAMMERFALL, EDGUY, HELLOWEEN, LUNATICA, RHAPSODY, SOUL SELLER and EMPTY TREMOR.

After leaving AT VANCE he started to focus more on the songwriting for his new band HARTMANN. Frontiers Records signed them in 2004 and the first album „Out In The Cold“ was released in 2005. The HARTMANN debut was the positive surprise of the year for many people, it received rave reviews and was rated “Album Of The Month“ in many well known Rock magazines all over the world. Among the most notable achievements was being elected as “Debut Album Of The Year” on melodicrock.com, the song „What If I“ becoming „Song Of The Year“ and „Into The Light“ coming in 2nd on the „Ballad Of The Year“ poll of the same webzin.

Following a tour over Europe in 2006 as support act for rock legends TOTO the band went back into the studio to record the second album „Home“. It was released in 2007 and promoted subsequently by support tours for HOUSE OF LORDS and THE HOOTERS.In September 2007 the band played two exclusive shows in the intimate atmosphere of an old Vaudeville theatre. The inspired performance of the band and their three female guest singers was filmed and recorded for the live DVD / CD „Handmade“. With tracks taken from the first two albums as well as previously unreleased songs and a tremendous cover version of John Miles’ “Music”, the set convinced reviewers and fans worldwide and received great write-ups in the global press.

2008 saw Oliver Hartmann touring as guitarist/singer for Tobias Sammet’s AVANTASIA, the internationally successful DVD / CD set “The Flying Opera” documents these live events. European shows with HARTMANN as support for EDGUY followed in spring 2009.
In late 2009 the next HARTMANN studio album followed. With the aptly titled CD „3“ the band again delivered the goods with songs of their unique brand of Melodic Rock with a modern twist, including the outstanding duet „Brothers“ with EDGUY / AVANTASIA’s Tobias Sammet.

During the past two years, the band HARTMANN played numerous shows as support of bands such as MOTHER’S FINEST, URIAH HEEP and Y&T and in January 2012 Oliver Hartmann joined the line-up for the very successful ROCK MEETS CLASSIC tour on vocals and guitars. The concerts showcased the impressive cast of Rock legends by the likes of Ian Gillan/ DEEP PURPLE, Jimi Jamison/ SURVIVOR, Steve Lukather/ TOTO, Chris Thompson/ ex-MANFRED MANN’S EARTH BAND and Robin Beck.

The recordings for the new HARTMANN album “Balance” were completed in April 2012. The 4th effort of the band once again offers melodic Rock music with a modern approach on the highest international level backed by a top notch production. The songs, mostly written by Oliver Hartmann himself, cover a wide variety of moods and showcase the whole range of the musical genre, always focusing on catchy melodies and expressive choruses. Highlights include the irresistible mid-tempo opener “All My Life”, the cleverly arranged rocker “You Are The One”, the relaxed tune “Dance On The Wire”, the diverse “Fall From Grace”, the power ballad “After The Love Is Gone” and the atmospheric track “From A Star”. In addition to the original material, “Balance”includes a stunning cover version of the TEARS FOR FEARS smash“Shout”.

“Balance” was once again mixed by Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Edguy, Epica, Kamelot) at Gate Studios, Wolfsburg, Germany and will be released on the 1st of June 2012 on the AVENUE OF ALLIES label.

DIAMONDDOG - One of the best rock albums in 2012 – guaranteed!

Diamondog has existed since 1998. In addition to having acted on national television and playing support for bands like Turbonegro, they have appeared at numerous venues, pubs and small festivals, mainly in Norway and Sweden. Oslo based Diamondog are stating their position as one of the still most promising rock band in the Norwegian music scene - well known for their energetic live gigs and hard hitting, catchy melodies.

In 2003 they released their first album "Diamondog" at the label Facefront which got generally good reviews all over the music scene.
After a couple of quiet years, among others testing of both keyboards and electric violin, they started work on what would become the band's second release. The album was called "Black Comes the Morning" and was released the January of 2009. It was recorded at the Tank Studio in Norway and mixed by the American heavyweights, Fabrizio Grossi (Dave Navarro, Slash, Steve Vai, Starbreaker ..) and Ty Tabor (Kings X). The mastering was originally done by Chris Athens (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Limp Bizkit..), but was later redone by Stig Antonsen when the band was not satisfied with the result.

In the summer of 2009 the band expanded with a new member, guitarist Håvard Træthaug, which made the band complete and led to a very exciting and productive year in 2010. In addition to regular live gigs they managed to release two singles, two music videos and an EP on vinyl - "Love, Pain and Diamonds".
2011 turned out to be a rather busy year as well. Besides doing live gigs the band was preparing doing another full length album. The collaboration with Fredrik Wallumrød (El Caco) and Tommy Akerholdt (Turbonegro, Serena Maneesh, Silver..) gave excellent results. The release of their third album, “Kill me”, has received the best reviews so far.

This spring Diamondog have signed an agreement with Swedish Doolittle Group for a worldwide release. The release will be a re-release of their third album “Kill me” and will also include two new awesome songs. The album will be called “Faithful unto Death”.

Angel King is a Stockholm based quartet playing Sleaze/Glam Rock and was formed in late 2010.

Before the band even had existed, guitar player Jack Vegas had worked with some song ideas for a couple of years, for which he hadn't found the right musicians. In fall of 2010 Jack presented these songs to his good friends Rock Boston and Snake Denver and they started to jam together. For the first time Jack felt that he had found the right musicians for the project and everything started to fall into place: the song writing felt natural and the chemistry was right.

To take the sound of the music to the next level, the band needed a singer with an exceptional voice. So after recording a few backgrounds they decided to invite Lazzy G, a friend of Jack Vegas, to the studio to try to sing a track called “World of Pain”. After laying down the track it was settled - Lazzy G was the singer they had been looking for. Just a few months later, Angel King was formed and the band got signed by the German record label meantime music, a subdivision of Yesterrock. The band started to record the debut album "World of Pain" in fall of 2011. The release date was set for 18.05.2012.

Getting the music out there, taking over the rock scene and tour until everyone knows who Angel King is, that is what will follow!

Since the members of German Hard Rock band BONFIRE, who celebrated their 25th band anniversary last year, all are animal lovers, it was logic that the idea came up to re-record their song “Cry For Help” for charity purposes, a track which originally appeared to be one of the fan’s highlights from the “Double X” album.

The new version with the new title “Cry For Help” offers a strong textual statement:
"Who sheds a tear for the crocodile
That you carry as a bag?
Does your mink coat still keep you warm
When you think about its fate?
It ain't just another protest song
About laboratory crimes
It's also a cry for help
For the cowards of our time."

“Cry For Help” will be released as special EP on May 4th, 2012 and will include this song in three different versions plus three additional bonus tracks.

Singer Claus Lessmann comments: „It’s great to bring one of our favorite songs to life again this way – and we’re even able to re-release this track with the support from PETA.”

At the end of March, the band travelled to the Ukraine where they played in Kherson in front of 20.000 enthusiastic fans and also became witnesses for the local animal abuse. In the run-up to the European Soccer Championship in the Ukraine and Poland, the Ukrainian government is rewarding people who are killing straying street dogs. The band was looking for a dialogue with the responsible public authorities and the general public.

The band is against indiscriminate killing and glad for every kind of support! One Euro per sold EP will be donated to PETA.

Yesterrock is distributing this release for LZ Records outside of Germany, Austria & Switzerland.
